We are glad to announce the “JOCR Reviewer’s Award 2015-2016”

Reviewing has been a tremendously satisfying experience for me. There have been some fascinating ideas I have come across. The support from the entire team has made reviewing for JOCR enjoyable. JOCR has to establish set guidelines for what can be acceptable as a case report to improve the impact factor. There should be a checklist for reviewers to be able to make sure that the article has been thoroughly reviewed. Also timelines should be set for reviewers to complete the review. Research and publication plays a critical role in clinical decision making and influences care of patients. It is imperative that genuine research is gleaned out from the chaff of papers.

It is a great feeling being selected as one the best reviewer for JOCR. JOCR is one of my favorite journal, as it gave me my first publication and then to follow. It’s a proud feeling for being a reviewer for this journal and few others, as the quality of papers published in it are excellent. The review process and the standards set for the publication are very high and at par with any other standard journals. My experience as a reviewer for JOCR is great, as it gives me the extra responsibility and opportunity to go through these excellent articles and do a thorough research and justify it. The rate at which JOCR is growing is amazing. Hats off to the entire team for there dedicated efforts to take this journal to new heights and excellent standards, I wish and see a great future for them. The present review process is good, may be you can opt for an more advanced software to create a pdf of the article also give numbers to each line when you send it for reviewer so that they can specify even the lines where corrections are sought. In the present world of evidence based medical sciences research and publications are going to play a key role. Everyone need to be updated and motivated to write their work. we in our country are doing great amount and quality of work, but are unable to express it and publish it in international forum.
I have seen IORG and JOCR taking great initiatives, motivating and training the young surgeons to write and publish the quality papers.
I wish the entire team all the success.

I had awesome experience while reviewing JOCR article. Good quality of articles as well the review process. JOCR should move ahead from case reports to original articles. I think review process can further be improved by faster processing of articles as blinding of review process. Publications of JOCR are of good quality and sound scientific content.

It was a wonderful experience. The reviewing process was simple and at par with the International standards. It was very easy to communicate as well. The liaison (Editor-coordinator: Ms. Nutan Saroj) between the editor and the reviewers in JOCR is very friendly as well. I would like JOCR to apply for Impact factor and get indexation with Medline, Thomson Reuters and Scopus. Make it completely online. Open Journal System is one of the programs which can be installed and is very easy to operate. I do think, JOCR uses the same software, however complete use of OJS can be great. Give a week for the reviewers to review. Healthcare decision-making is mostly reliant on evidence–based medicine. Research is the need of the day. Without it, there is no tomorrow. Many diseases and disorders are yet to be cured and dealt with. However, there is an alarming decline in the current number of physician-scientists who does research, which can threaten the progress of translational medicine in the upcoming era. According to me, research values should be inculcated right from the medical school. It helps the student to not only think but to invent something rather than merely following the ancient things. However, Research should be quality and not quantity based. Having one good publication is far better than having ten publications which does not advance any knowledge.

I thank you for giving me this award. I am happy that JOCR is recognising and appreciating young orthopaedic surgeons for the work done in this regard. My experience as a reviewer for JOCR has been very memorable. I was surprised that I was chosen as a reviewer and my opinions as a reviewer were taken well. It gives a young and aspiring orthopaedic surgeon like me and others to continue to strive in research and also in innovative techniques in orthopaedics. I have already seen that IORG under Dr. Shyam has been starting newer journals to encompass all specialities within orthopaedics. It gives sub-speciality work a new imperative to publish more quality work in them. As far as the next level goes, JOCR is now indexed by PUBMED which is fantastic. The next viable option is to get Thompson-Reuter indexing as well. Also in the hard copies if we publish a case series of upto 15 cases, it still is printed as case reports. That could be corrected. I think the review process is perfect as it is. Maybe if we could increase the rate of publishing from 4 to 6 per year will be good. Also if it can be made mandatory to send hard copies of the journal issue to the corresponding authors of each article that would be a welcome move. I believe in “Publish or Perish” and I think every orthopaedic surgeon whether in academics or just practicising should publish atleast one article every year.

Its really pleasure to read about JOCR expanding in a great way and many sub specialities are published in individual journals associated with JOCR. My experience as a reviewer for the great JOCR, the articles submitted are of high quality and content. In fact many other publications are quoting our articles as reference. Its really a great job done by Dr. Ashok Shyam sir Editor- Journal of Orthopaedic Case Report and his team members. Regarding the review process, once the peer review correction is over the queries corrected by the author can be sent to the same author to know the extent of correction made before publications. since mushrooms of new articles are published everyday, we should be atmost care in accepting the journals for publication in future.
